At House on the Moon, sustainability is not an afterthought, it is the starting point. Every cushion is the result of years of design, sourcing, and collaboration with the right partners to bring our vision to life. Instead of virgin fills, we use recycled textiles rescued from fast-fashion overproduction, giving unwanted garments a second life. Our woven covers are crafted to last for decades, and every order is packaged without plastic. We are proud to create a wellness tool that cares for you while reducing the burden of textile waste on our planet.

Responsibility
We believe every brand has a duty to care for our planet. At House on the Moon, we start with the earth in mind and build from there. We are here to prove that you can build a successful business while putting the planet first. Every decision we make, from the fabrics we source to the partners we work with to the way we package and deliver, is guided by respect for both people and planet. Our promise is to keep learning, improving, and sharing each step we take toward protecting the earth and amplifying our positive impact.

Collective Impact
House on the Moon exists to clean up the mess left behind by fast fashion. The industry produces 92 million tonnes of textile waste every single year, much of it brand-new clothing thrown away before it is ever worn. Many of these garments are burned, dumped in landfills, or left to wash up on beaches.
Instead of letting this waste pollute the earth, we reclaim it and shred it into our eco-fill, the stuffing inside every House on the Moon cushion. Each cushion saves around 28 T-shirts from landfill. By transforming waste into wellness, we cut the need for virgin materials, reduce the carbon footprint of overproduction, prevent toxic fumes from burning textiles, stop microplastics from entering our oceans, and ease the burden on beaches and landfills.
Our Sustainability Goals

Conscious Sourcing
We source the clothing that brands didn’t want - mostly unworn, unsold stock. These discarded items are shredded to create our firm, clean eco-fill, the perfect sustainable stuffing for our cushions. There is no need for new materials, no need for new resources, and no added emissions. By using what already exists, we create the most responsible solution to clothing waste.

Clean Production
Every House on the Moon cushion is handmade in the UK by me and my mum, right from our home. Any waste we create is shredded and reused as filling, so nothing is lost. Our cushion fabrics are woven here in the UK under strict environmental and labour regulations, ensuring safe production and higher standards than many overseas mills. Local manufacturing keeps our supply chain transparent, reduces transport emissions, and allows us to keep every detail close to home.

Our Biggest Goal
Right now, our cushion covers include a percentage of virgin polyester, which means they are not yet as sustainable as we want them to be. Sustainable woven upholstery fabrics are still underdeveloped, and creating one ourselves is currently out of reach for a start-up. For now, we have partnered with a high-quality UK mill that produces beautiful, durable fabrics in timeless patterns and colours. These covers are designed to be sat on thousands of times, cherished, and passed down for generations.
We know waiting for the perfect fabric would delay our mission for years, and we believe rescuing unwanted garments cannot wait. The amount of fabric we save from landfill far outweighs the footprint of our covers, which is why we remain carbon negative. As we grow, we are committed to finding and developing the most sustainable cushion fabrics possible, because our goal is progress, not perfection.
